Biography
My name is Melissa Ann Greenwood I reside in a little town in Indiana where I have lived most of my life ...I was adopted when I was 3 days old by my parents Cameron and Carol Greenwood they loved and nurtured me into what I am today ...my parents were both singers my daddy Cameron was in a rockn roll band in the 60's they sang alot of colleges and so forth ..he met my mom when she was 16 they dated 4 yrs and got married my mom has some musical background as well her family came from Kentucky in a little hollar known as Camble branch..where they were mostly family my moms mom Mary her family would gather and have barn gatherings mountain music and dancing and I know cause my great grandpa made it moonshine lol ,...anyways My parents had a musical background little did they know I had my own secrets that had not been developed yet when I was around 3 my parents would get me to sing little church songs and record me on old cassette tape all we had back then none of this fancy tech equipment like now ..but they noticed I sang on key and as I got older I went to church all the time grew up in it we sang there and I was 10 my parents and I started singing together alot of Dottie Rambo's old stuff .my connection to Dottie is quite interesting if you knew of her of course lol.. as I grew up I took piano lessons my first piano teacher well her first piano teacher was Ms Dottie Rambo very interesting but in any case being like me I love to put it all together and I had a strong connection to this wonderful songwriter Dottie she was my hero..I led a youth choir at my church when I was 17 I played piano for church regularly ..I sang alot of solo's was known in my church group for singing ...I was about 23 I gave up church and moved away got married and gave music up as well...he didn't like my music so for nearly 9 yrs I didnt play piano or sing in 2003 I divorced and got back into music again wrote a couple of songs Losing You and Lost In the Thought of You ...went to Nashville and met a man who got me to sign with his label for a bit he promoted me he got me into a studio and I recorded my two songs I had 4 others to but I didnt record them I will eventually ...Music is my life I am a proud mother to two beautiful kids Alyssa and Johnathan they are joy and strength..I am glad to be on this music site Bill Sterling invited me I met him in 2007 on showcaseyourmusic.com we became good friends and wrote our first song that year called Im Going Out Of My Mind..great song...I met Bill face to face in early 2008 and we still write...I had a tragedy last year I lost my mom Carol in October she died suddenly ..and she was my big fan my number 1 fan and all the music I have written after she died is dedicated to her memory she helped me write my first song when I was 14 called On This Day ...I will say I thank God almighty for my talent in music ...God bless ya Melissa Ann
