The Watercolours is a multi-tasking, eclectic pop-art band in the real sense of the terminology. It's a flexible format operating under that title, which is there to establish a recognisable name and furnish some sense of identity. It's a back to basics sort of approach, taking a cue from the grass roots of UK pop music, the simpler and more immediate the better. Early Beatles, The Who, Stones, Bolan, Slade, Bowie, punk stuff like The Clash, The Jam and latterly Brit-pop as we like Oasis a great deal. The one golden rule is no cover versions. Only original stuff. We may draw on the work of people we admire and enjoy for inspiration, but we always aim to update that into a fresh and original format. Cover versions are counter-productive to what we do. We're a retro-pop-art collective. We'll play any way, anytime and any place - just let us know the details. Intimate acoustic sets, full band electric stage shows - name your poison.
